The Cottage Grove Cogeneration Plant is a 245 megawatt natural gas-fueled, combined-cycle cogeneration facility located in the Cottage Grove Industrial Park. The plant went into commercial operation service in 1997, providing electricity to Xcel Energy. A cogeneration facility, Cogentrix provides the adjacent 3M Manufacturing Company with its process steam needs. The facility currently employs 19 people.
The Cogentrix plant has been a great addition to our community and Industrial Park.
In my work with the Cottage Grove EDA and Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, it has become quite obvious that Cottage Grove is a pro-business community and that business attraction and retention is a high priority for the City.
